FAQs

How do I submit a receipt/statement to my insurance?

If you would like to submit a superbill statement for out-of-network benefits to your insurance company, these questions may be useful to ask your insurance company prior to receiving care:

  • Do I have out-of-network benefits?

  • How much is my deductible, and at what percent is out-of-network coverage paid after the deductible has been met?

  • What are my out-of-network benefits when seeing a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner?

  • What is my coverage for telehealth visits?

  • What are the reimbursable amounts for common psychiatric evaluation and medication management visit codes such as: CPT codes 99204 – GT, 99205 – GT, 99213 – GT, 99214 – GT, 90833 – GT?

  • How do I get reimbursed for my visits?

You may wish to use the Reimbursify app. It is a fast, easy way to file out-of-network insurance claims. It works with most of the major insurance companies.

Do you provide psychotherapy?

I provide brief supportive therapy as needed during follow up appointments as well as specific, targeted Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) and mindfulness-based approaches for anxiety, depression, and related mental health conditions when they are helpful and desired.

CBT is quite effective for many people who suffer from anxiety and/or depression. I sometimes recommend working through a CBT workbook, targeted for your specific condition and needs, as research demonstrates this can be quite effective for some conditions.

Cognitive behavior therapy works to optimize thoughts, feelings, and behaviors to improve mental health and functioning.

Comprehensive psychotherapy is best provided by a licensed psychotherapist such as a clinical psychologist, clinical social worker, or counselor who specializes in psychotherapy.  If this is the case, I can provide referrals for specialized psychotherapy, if needed, and may still be able to provide treatment and care including prescribing medications. We can discuss options to best serve your needs and goals.

What is holistic, integrative psychiatric care and treatment?

Holistic, integrative psychiatric care is a treatment approach that views you as a complex, dynamic person, not a set of symptoms. This approach includes root cause dis-ease identification, the best of eastern approaches and western medicine, natural and professional grade supplements, psychotherapy, mind-body healing modalities, coaching, lifestyle and sleep optimization, genetic testing, and the healing power of a caring relationship with your psychiatric provider. Symptom reduction is not the entire goal - optimal wellness is the goal.
